Top 5 Most Iconic Movie Cars Ever
Cinema has blessed us with some truly iconic cars over the years. Who can forget the classic Aston Martins in Bond or the Tumbler Batmobile? And, of course, the bazillion vehicles in the Fast and Furious films.
Cars and movies go hand-in-hand, so we’re bringing five of the most iconic movie cars to feature on the big screen.
Tumbler Batmobile, The Dark Knight Series
Is there anything cooler than the Bat-mobile? You’ll have a hard time convincing us.
Throughout the years, the Bat-mobile has appeared in many guises as the vehicle for multiple Batmans, from Adam West and Michael Keaton to Christian Bale and Robert Pattinson.
Our favourite is Christian Bale’s Tumbler, which he drove in Christopher Nolan’s highly acclaimed Dark Knight series.
It looks more like a tank, but there’s no doubting the Tumbler Bat-mobile is an imposing piece of kit. It was custom-built for the films, taking around one year to manufacture.
During filming, the Tumbler performed on streets with its action jumps and 90 mph speeds.
Toyota Supra, The Fast and the Furious
We’ve lost count of the number of Fast and Furious (FF) films. Let’s just say there are a lot. Like, so many.
It’s also fair to say that a few iconic cars appear throughout the FF movies, with the bright orange Toyota Supra one of the best. In the real world, the Supra glides over bumps and reaches zero to 62 mph in 5.2 seconds.
Following its initial appearance, the Toyota Supra became a series regular and was a hit with the fans. An all-time classic, indeed.
Aston Martin V12 Vanquish, Die Another Day
James Bond likes his martinis shaken, not stirred, and his cars by Aston Martin, not Skoda.
We’ve gone for the V12 Vanquish, which appeared in our cars of Bond guide. Pierce Brosnan was behind the wheel of this particular Aston Martin with its rockets, shotguns and machine guns.
The real-life one isn’t as gung-ho, but its 48 valve 6.0-litre V12 engine can generate 460 bhp at 6,500 rpm to achieve speeds of 190 mph.
The movie version of the Vanquish is officially the most expensive Bond car of all time.
Cadillac Miller-Meteor, Ghostbusters
Who’d have thought an ambulance-hearse crossover would be so appealing? But when there’s something strange in the neighbourhood, the Ghostbusters are the case, and they’ll arrive in the Cadillac Miller-Meteor.
Otherwise known as The Ectomobile, this car is undoubtedly one of the most iconic movie vehicles ever to appear on the screen.
Besides the distinct noise of the sirens when it was in action, the Ectomobile featured the famous red and white colour scheme and became a cult favourite. Who you gonna call?
Mini Cooper, The Italian Job
The Mini cemented itself in pop culture after appearing in The Italian Job.
Who can forget those three Minis in the feature-length car chase, which has become one of the best movie moments in cars.
Michael Caine may have been the lead with his famous “You’re only supposed to blow the bloody doors off” line, but the Mini Cooper was the real star of this all-time classic flick.
