Our Favourite Transformers from the Movies
Whether you're a fan of the 80s classic cartoon or the Michael Bay movies from the noughties, there's no denying that Transformers is pretty darn cool. Alien robots transforming into kick-ass cars; what's not to like about that? But which Transformers turn into the best vehicles? That's what we're finding out with this guide featuring our favourite Autobots and Decepticons.
Ironhide
Another Autobot OG, Ironhide is known for shooting first and asking questions later. In truth, he's somewhat of a hothead, but he's also the unofficial right-hand bot to Optimus Prime, leader of the Autobots, and the two share similarities when it comes to leadership. Perhaps more importantly, Ironhide turns into a pretty nifty red Nissan Sunny-Vanette Coach SGL when he's not in robot mode.
Jazz
Not only is Jazz the coolest of all the Autobots, but he's also a big fan of music and modern slang. He brings an edge to the Transformers but, more importantly, transforms into one of the best cars of the lot. That would be a Porsche of all things, which is much more fun to drive than Optimus Prime's 18-wheeler.
Bumblebee
Made famous by the live-action films and then a recipient of his own movie, Bumblebee is one of the original Transformers. In the 80s cartoon, he transformed into a Volkswagen Beetle. By the time the first film came out in 2007, he was upgraded to the slightly more funky Chevrolet Camaro.
Mirage
Mirage doesn't align with either the Autobots or Decepticons, as he's more of a quiet pacifist who wants to stay away from conflict. Still, that doesn't stop him from transforming into an impressive F1 car. Actually, if we could turn into a race car, we wouldn't bother to fight and would spend all of our time racing around. In the movie, he was known as Dino.
Starscream
Ok, so Starscream doesn't transform into a car. Instead, he turns into a fighter jet and is known for his arrogance and obsession with overthrowing the Decepticon boss, Megatron. What could go wrong? Well, just about everything, as his plans almost always fail. Still, he's a fighter jet, so there's that. In the movie, Mirage was known as Dino.
Arcee
Acree was the first female Transformer, with strengths that include compassion towards organic life such as humans. Ok, so she's a bit of a stereotype transforming into a pink convertible. Still, that's where the lazy tropes end, and she's far from a damsel in distress. Acree is a fierce warrior who can also turn into a motorcycle when she feels like it.
Hot Rod
With a name like Hot Rod, it shouldn't come as a surprise that he turns into an awesome car. When he transforms, Hot Rod hits max speeds as a Lamborghini Centenario and looks damn good burning rubber. He was also the worthy successor to Optimus Prime as the leader of the Autobots.
Devastator
The Devastator is actually several Decepticons who form together to create the Devastator, one of the largest and strongest Transformers. Individually, they transform into construction vehicles, which makes sense when you consider the fact that they turn into such a powerful, erm, devastator when together.
Barricade
One of the more violent Decepticons, Barricade likes to be deceptive and takes the form of a Ford Mustang police car around humans. That way, they think he's one of the good guys. Oh Barricade, you pesky Decepticon, you.
Our favourite transformers
There are loads of Transformers, but we've chosen the ones that turn into handy vehicles we'd like to drive in real life, including the fighter jet. So whether you're team Autobots or team Decepticons, just make sure you pick one that turns into an excellent vehcile. That'd be the Porsche, then. 😎
